Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich

Have you ever had one of these? A waffle ice cream sandwich.

I can't remember the first place I had one but I think it was when visiting the beach/boardwalk as a child. I was shocked to find out that Matt NEVER had one or even heard of them until I made him one a few years ago!!

They are heavenly. Normally I only use half of a homemade waffle for the sandwich, but we were treating ourselves the night I made these and opted for a whole waffle.

Simple ingredients:
Homemade waffles, freshly made or pre-made and heated in a toaster oven
Ice cream, I prefer Neapolitan
Optional side of fruit

Our stroller arrived!

How exciting to come home to a big box! After hearing rave reviews from 2 local friends about their Mountain Buggy's (Hi Jill & Dawn!) and reading other all positive reviews, we decided that we would like one too! What's so great about it? It's light weight, has a full reclining seat, one step fold, front wheel can swivel or be fixed, great maneuverability, the weight limit is high so we can use it for a LONG time, and I hear they can be steered with ONE hand (I think this is what sold Matt on it too). I found a fantastic deal online so we couldn't pass it up. We went to set it up this morning and I was sad to see that the rubber on the handlebar is cracked/damaged in one spot. I called the store where I ordered it from and am waiting to hear back from them. It's not terribly noticeable but I'd rather have one that is in perfect condition since we bought it new. Still... overall the stroller looks GREAT and I can't wait to try it out.
Here is a photo of the one we ordered. I love the Houndstooth fabric!

Feeling Movement?

I think that I might have felt the baby move last night?!?! It could have been a sleepy dream though b/c it was at a point in the middle of the night where I was having trouble falling back to sleep.

I've read that it's possible to feel something this early. I'm not sure though and haven't felt anything since then but it was so surreal!! It felt like something fluttered across for just a brief moment. I whispered to Matt "Are you awake?" to which he replied "Yes" but he admitted this morning that he was really half asleep. I said "I think I just felt the baby move but I'm not sure". No response from him so he must have dozed back off to sleep. When I woke up this morning I stayed still and waited to see if I felt anything more but I didn't.

Maybe it will happen again soon!!

Growth

It's been a while since I've kept up with posting (thanks for the reminder girls!).
I thought I'd add some pics to document my expanding belly :)

Here I am at 6 weeks

10 weeks

12 weeks

15 weeks and in maternity pants!

16 weeks at a Counting Crows concert. I don't think I look that big in person but the white ribbed tank accentuates the belly :)
And yes, we noticed that we have similar outfits on! We should really check to see what each other has packed before leaving for a weekend.

I had another OB appt yesterday. All is still well as far as we know. The doctor was surprised at how high my uterus is already. I didn't ask if that was good or bad but she didn't seem concerned so I'm not either. The baby's heart rate is still 160 bpm.

Only 3 weeks until we find out if Baby V is a girl or boy! We'll have a 4D ultra sound in the beginning of September. We are fortunate that our doctor's office offers 4D & that insurance will cover it. Unfortunately, I was born with a cleft lip so I'm nervous to find out if the baby has one too. We should be able to tell with the 4D u/s. I'd like to know before the birth so that if needed, I can be prepared to learn about any possible feeding issues and to contact a surgeon. I had 7 surgeries on my lip throughout my life. The advances since my procedures will hopefully allow for fewer re-constructive surgeries if our baby has a cleft lip too. I'm praying that it won't be necessary!

Lovely old friends

I recently spent the afternoon with a dear friend. We met during our freshman year in college and have been there through good & bad times over the past 10 years. She is a person to admire...honest, selfless, down to earth, and fun to be around. She was an amazing support while we struggled through trying to conceive. She always had the right words to say and still does.

She had a sweet baby boy in May and it's awesome to see her as a mother. I know how much she longed to be a mother and the role suits her so well.

It was a great afternoon. I had the chance to admire her mothering skills and hold her baby while we reminisced about old times. Looking back on those 4 years of college and laughing with her was the highlight of my week.

On a previous visit with her, she sent me home with these:

LOTS of maternity clothes to borrow! Thanks to my generous friend.
